Alfonsina?s Resort has one of the largest bays facing the Sea of Cortez. There are miles and miles of beautiful white sandy beaches and the pace in Alfonsina?s allows for certain recreational opportunities. You won?t hear any wave runners screaming by on the water @50 miles per hour, although the bay seems to beg for just such an adventure. Water sports that are more in tune with the natural environment seem much more enjoyable.
Snorkeling and scuba diving can be enjoyed in the large bay, and by following the rocky bay from Alfonsina?s to Cactus Point one can find many places to enjoy the interesting underwater scenery.
The waters around Alfonsina?s are absolutely perfect for kayaking. Using Alfonsina?s as base camp, excursions around the island or around the bay are wonderful ways to spend a couple of hours. For the serious kayaker that wants to cover some real territory, a trip over to Punta Final and back is a great adventure.
The road south of Alfonsina?s offers great off-roading. For a short adventure, the dirt road to Punta Final is fun. For a longer trek, heading out towards Coco?s corner (a half mile South) and then to the coast is another good destination. The gravel road from Gonzaga Bay connects to the Transpeninsular Highway, South of Catabiņa.
The two short bay of San Luis Gonzaga and Alfonsina?s is an excellent place to drop anchor. Both bays offer sandy bottoms. Although the North Bay gets shallow relatively quickly, it offers enough draft to get enough into the bay to escape the prevailing winds. The South bay has sufficient depth all the way in, and also offers a couple of inside coves for even greater wind protection.
For emergencies and general information, Alfonsina?s often monitors the marine band channel ?22?.

At Alfonsina?s hotel we have new rooms with large beds located right on the beachfront. Each one features a private bathroom. All our visitors love the wonderful accommodations with the spectacular open view of the sunset.
Joaquin Cardenas (Alfonsina?s son) and his beautiful wife Susana (and their new son Joaquin Junior!) have taken over the resort administration along with their Hotel and Restaurant Manager Antonio Islas. They provide excellent service and hospitality for guests and travelers who stop by. Good people!
The best way to be sure of room availability is to call 7 to 15 days in advance or make reservations. Rooms run 45.00 and up to 2 people can sleep in one big bed. We offer discount rates for a single person in one room.
